Dad Covered in Tattoos Marked as “Bad Father” Battles Everyday Prejudice

His wife claims people need to see through his tattoos and adds that he’s a big-hearted person.

Richard Huff, who is 51 years old and calls himself an “ink addict,” talked about the negative reactions he gets because of his passion for tattoos. With more than 240 tattoos on 85% of his body, he frequently faces harsh comments online, where people label him as a “bad parent” and a “monster.” However, Richard, who is a father to seven kids, stays committed to his family and is involved in his children’s lives and school events.

Richard began getting tattoos when he was just 17 years old. He finds the mix of pain and creativity really interesting. But because he has so many tattoos, some people see him in a negative light. For example, his kids’ friends think he looks “scary.” Even his wife, Marita, had her doubts about him at first because of his appearance, but she eventually saw how kind and caring he really is.

Even after the criticism, Richard stays committed to being a good dad. He actively joins the PTA and goes to his children’s events. Some people online make fun of his facial tattoos, but many others stand up for him, saying he has the right to choose how he looks. Richard keeps his head up, believing that the harsh comments say more about the people who make them than about him.

When people criticize him online, Richard focuses on making his family happy. He believes that having tattoos doesn’t mean he’s a bad dad. Instead, he thinks his tattoos can help his kids see life in a new way, showing that their happiness is what really counts for him.
